Artist's Description
Holding up the Flag - Richard Reeve
The gentleman in the faded leather jacket walked to the foot of the steps of the old Courthouse. He fitted his flagpole together and raised Old Glory above his head. Throughout the Veterans' Day memorial he pressed it against the marble plinth ensuring we could all see it. Although he was on the periphery of the main, organized event we couldn't help but be drawn to him and think of the sacrifices that he and his comrades had made for the nation.
