Description
Alcazar of Toledo at night - Richard Reeve
The Alcazar of Toledo is an impressive stone fortification of square design with a 60m tall tower in each corner. Originally established in the 2nd century BCE by the Romans, it became a riyal palace for the Visigoths in the 6th Century CE, and later an Islamic Castle, and a Medieval Christian Castle. Even in the 20th Century CE it was an important edifice, being the headquarters for the rebels during the Spanish Civil War of 1936-39.
