Description
Windmill at Consuegra - Richard Reeve
On the ridge above the town of Consuegra, in the province of Toledo, Castille-la-Mancha are a series of ancient windmills. Some say these were the inspiration for Cervantes' extremely short, but best known, adventure of Don Quixote and created the phrase "tilting at windmills".
I am not so sure. The proximity of Castle of La Muela between the windmills is not mentioned in Don Quixote which I find perplexing. Personally, I think Las Molinas at Campo de Criptana, several miles away are more likely candidates.
Nevertheless, these windmills are spectacular, especially around sunset.
