This 1910 advertisement shows a somewhat bizarre attempt to advertise a piano. I am not sure whether the graphic is to illustrate that your children will be enraptured, or can be stored inside the piano.
On second thoughts, the suspicious lack of pianist is also very sinister. What have the deceptively cheerful looking kids done with him or her? Perhaps they are now jumping up and down on the inert body they have stashed in the piano carcass for making them learn their scales?
All very odd!

I am a visual story teller based in southern Pennsylvania, USA and my imagery is inspired from everyday objects and situations I encounter through my travels. My work has been exhibited and sold at the Bradford Avenue Galleries (Allinson Gallery and Huston Gallery) at Chester County Art Association, in addition to this online store. My images have also been exhibited at Panorama XXL, Rouen, France and the Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati, USA. I hope you will find something that inspires you, amuses you, makes you think, smile, frown, or perhaps just scratch your head. Go on, dive in... and for those of you who do so, I offer a big thank you for looking through my window on the world! ~Richard ReevePhotos Inspiring...

If you only rented it, did you have to return the kids?
Richard Reeve replied:
Hmm, I wonder!

Thank you for your wonderful description! : D my mind was starting down a similar path and you confirmed my suspicions... Ah, simpler times, when kids could get rid of piano teachers with ease. Hmmm, another option, less sinister, could be you received five orphans with every piano purchased? Ver fun Richard! L/F!
Richard Reeve replied:
Thank you, Meg. I hadn't thought of that - perhaps 5 smiling cherubs were part of the deal :D
