Artist's Description
Stumpy - Richard Reeve
A lone cherry blossom tree with pink flowers stands by a peaceful lake under a clear blue sky. The tree's unique, split trunk gives it a striking appearance against the serene backdrop of water and distant buildings. The trunk shows signs of age and weathering, contrasting with the youthful vigor of the white flowers. This is Stumpy, the beloved Washington DC cherry tree.
About Richard Reeve

I am a visual story teller based in southern Pennsylvania, USA and my imagery is inspired from everyday objects and situations I encounter through my travels. My work has been exhibited and sold at the Bradford Avenue Galleries (Allinson Gallery and Huston Gallery) at Chester County Art Association, in addition to this online store. My images have also been exhibited at Panorama XXL, Rouen, France and the Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati, USA. I hope you will find something that inspires you, amuses you, makes you think, smile, frown, or perhaps just scratch your head. Go on, dive in... and for those of you who do so, I offer a big thank you for looking through my window on the world! ~Richard ReevePhotos Inspiring...

This one hit the 5:00 news. Best wishes on its success. May be a last view of the real thing.
Richard Reeve replied:
Thank you, Patty. It's a shame but they will take cuttings from Stumpy and hope to regrow the tree.

Looks like the tree is on its last year!! Love the pink against the blue! Nice find and presentation!! LFX
Richard Reeve replied:
Yes, Stumpy is a survivor and has become bit of celebrity in DC. Unfortunately, this will be the last year as 130 or so of these trees (including Stumpy) are being felled to repair the waterfront which is being eroded due to rising water levels in the Basin.
