Description
ESP -The Reading Room - Richard Reeve
Here was a place set aside for contemplation. A rude bench with flaking paint placed under the only light that was safely available in the place. Only here was there ever really enough light to be able to read anything, and then only for a few hours before the sun set again for the long dark night...

Strangely, spiritual, given that you have nothing to support you but your spirit. Vote
Richard Reeve replied:
Thank you, Maria. ESP is a really weird place, with lots of (quite horrific) history. Hard to believe is was used right up to the 1970s.

Love this atmospheric image Richard l/f
Richard Reeve replied:
Thank you, Denise. The place is a photographer's paradise - just need to get creative and be there at the right time for the natural light!

Solitude ... nothing equates escapism like reading... and light illuminating black on white in books, in space, in mind..... oh I really like this!

Meg Shearer
What would he be reading? Paradise Lost? Les Mis? The Man in the Iron Mask? Or something to take him far away from this place...But wait, the book teases him and he can't escape into another world because he can't actually read it... Powerful and poignant. I love what you're doing with this room Richard! l/f!
Richard Reeve replied:
Thank you, Meg. Right place, right time. One rule of photography is avoid midday sun, but here you need overhead sunlight for the vertical windows.
